ECTS – European Credit Transfer System

The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) - is an indispensable element for the recognition of the period of study abroad and diplomas from foreign universities. ECTS is based on three elements: information, agreement and the use of ECTS credits. Full recognition of studies is a sine qua non condition for student mobility under the Erasmus + program. This means that the period of study abroad (including examinations, credits and tests) replaces a comparable period of study at the home university (including examinations, tests and tests).

As part of ECTS, there are 60 credits for the entire academic year, and usually 30 credits for a semester. ECTS points are a numerical value assigned to individual subjects and determine the workload that a student must make to obtain a credit in a given subject, and therefore include: lectures, practical exercises, seminars, consultations, individual work - in a library or at home - and exams, passes and tests.
